Postdoc in the Calmodulinopathy Research: A postdoctoral position is available at the Faculty of Engineering and Science, Department of Chemistry and Bioscience, for the Calmodulinopathy Research Program, focused on understanding the molecular consequences of genetic variants in calmodulin and their impact on disease phenotype, particularly cardiac arrhythmia.

  • Eligibility/Qualification:
  • Scientific qualifications at PhD level or similar
  • Experience in cell biology or related field
  • Proficiency in mammalian cell culture
  • Preferred experience in microscopy, electrophysiology, induced pluripotent stem cells, biophysical methods, or calcium signaling
  • Highly motivated, systematic, independent, and proficient in problem-solving and critical thinking
  • Excellent oral and written English language skills
  • Cooperative personality with good communication skills
  • Job Description:
  • Study the effects of calmodulin variants in model systems based on cultured cells
  • Research components include studying calmodulin’s regulation of other proteins in immortalized cell lines and the effects of calmodulin variants on cardiomyocytes differentiated from patient-derived induced pluripotent stem cells
  • Implementing new assays, microscopy-based methods, and technology at research facilities in Aalborg
  • Limited teaching within the area, including in other study programs at the University
  • Collaborate with Professor Michael Toft Overgaard and Assistant Professor Helene Halkjær Jensen
  • Primary workplace at the Medical Biotechnology section, Department of Chemistry and Bioscience, Aalborg University
