Postdoctoral Fellow Position – Autism: The Seaver Autism Center for Research and Treatment at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is seeking a motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to contribute to pioneering research on intellectual disability (ID) and autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Under the guidance of Dr. Silvia De Rubeis, this position focuses on translating genetic findings into functional analyses using cellular and mouse models, with an emphasis on DDX3X syndrome, a rare genetic disorder associated with ID and ASD.

Eligibility/Qualification:

Basic QualificationsPreferred Qualifications
PhD, MD, MD/PhD in Molecular Biology/Neuroscience/GeneticsExpertise in RNA biology, RNA-binding proteins, genomics, and computational biology
Expertise in molecular biology, biochemistry, and cellular/molecular neuroscienceGood understanding of human genetics
Strong record of peer-reviewed publicationsFamiliarity with R and statistical software
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work in an international, interdisciplinary team

Job Description:
The Postdoctoral Fellow will:

  • Conduct cutting-edge research focusing on neurodevelopmental disorders such as ID and ASD.
  • Use genetics and genomics to explore underlying mechanisms of DDX3X syndrome.
  • Participate in large-scale genomic studies.
  • Collaborate with a vibrant research community at the Seaver Autism Center and Icahn School of Medicine.

Appointment Details:

Term1-year initial appointment (up to 5 years, contingent on performance and funding)
Salary$73,588/year, with a 3% annual increase
