Postdoctoral Fellow (Pratt Research Group): The University of Rhode Island (URI) is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join the Pratt Research Group, focusing on discipline-based education research in chemistry. This is a full-time, limited appointment position with the potential for extension, contingent on satisfactory performance and resources.

Research Area

Discipline-based education research focusing on chemistry teaching and learning, including topics in inorganic chemistry education and informal science settings.

Eligibility/Qualification

Required Qualifications:

  1. Ph.D. in chemical education, discipline-based education, science education, or a related field at the time of appointment.
  2. Demonstrated project design experience.
  3. Experience in data collection methods.
  4. Proficiency in qualitative and/or quantitative data analysis using relevant software.
  5. Experience with dissemination of research findings.
  6. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  7. Ability to work with diverse groups and populations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience mentoring graduate and/or undergraduate students in research processes.

Job Description

Basic Function:

  • Conduct research on discipline-based education projects related to the Pratt Research Group’s initiatives.
  • Develop and propose research projects that align with personal interests and those of the group.
  • Engage in the collection and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data, and contribute to research publications and presentations.
