PhD Fellow in Plant Genomics: The Natural History Museum (NHM) at the University of Oslo invites applications for a fully funded PhD Research Fellow position focused on the evolutionary genomics of Arctic plants. Eligibility/Qualification

Required:

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in evolutionary biology, genomics, bioinformatics, population genetics, plant sciences, or related fields.
  • Experience with bioinformatics and familiarity with high-throughput sequencing data.
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience in Arctic biology, plant ecology, or experimental studies.
  • Proficiency in relevant programming languages (e.g., Bash, R, Python).
  • Field or laboratory experience in plant science.
  • Interest in convergent evolution and evolutionary theory.

Job Description

The PhD candidate will:

  • Conduct independent and collaborative research on genetic adaptation in Arctic plants.
  • Perform population genomic analyses and execute common garden experiments.
  • Plan and conduct fieldwork to collect plant material.
  • Analyze and interpret high-throughput sequencing data.
  • Collaborate with both national and international research partners.
  • Participate in teaching, supervision, and outreach activities as part of the PhD duties.

The position lasts four years, with one year dedicated to compulsory duties aimed at career development.
