Eligibility/Qualification
Required:
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in evolutionary biology, genomics, bioinformatics, population genetics, plant sciences, or related fields.
- Experience with bioinformatics and familiarity with high-throughput sequencing data.
- Excellent written and spoken English skills.
Desirable:
- Experience in Arctic biology, plant ecology, or experimental studies.
- Proficiency in relevant programming languages (e.g., Bash, R, Python).
- Field or laboratory experience in plant science.
- Interest in convergent evolution and evolutionary theory.
Job Description
The PhD candidate will:
- Conduct independent and collaborative research on genetic adaptation in Arctic plants.
- Perform population genomic analyses and execute common garden experiments.
- Plan and conduct fieldwork to collect plant material.
- Analyze and interpret high-throughput sequencing data.
- Collaborate with both national and international research partners.
- Participate in teaching, supervision, and outreach activities as part of the PhD duties.
The position lasts four years, with one year dedicated to compulsory duties aimed at career development.
