Eligibility/Qualification
- University degree (Diploma/M.Sc.) in Physics, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related field with above-average grades.
- Profound understanding of solid-state physics and thermodynamics.
- Ideally, experience with semiconductor and insulator materials.
Desirable Competences
- Experience with Mössbauer methodology, in-situ experiments, nuclear spectroscopy techniques, and electronic system set-up.
- Familiarity with vacuum systems, cryogenics, and high-power lasers.
- Proficiency in at least one OOP programming language (e.g., Python, C++) and instrument control languages (e.g., LabView).
- Knowledge of data visualization and statistical analysis tools (MATLAB, Origin, or Python libraries).
- Good communication skills and fluency in English.
Job Description
- Development and installation of an on-line Mössbauer modular chamber for ISOLDE/CERN.
- Simulations for ion and laser beams, along with development and installation.
- Programming and automation of test setups, coupled with the development of evaluation software.
- Conducting measurements at ISOLDE/CERN and participating in joint projects within the ISOLDE collaboration.
- Evaluation, analysis, and presentation of results, including publications, lectures, reports, and contributions to international conferences.
