Eligibility/Qualification
- PhD in a relevant biological subject.
- Deep knowledge of synthetic biology approaches, microbiological methods, and genome biology.
- Ability to work independently in designing experiments and critically evaluating data.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Experience in teamwork.
- Knowledge and experience with photosynthetic systems and/or chloroplasts is highly desirable.
Job Description
The successful candidate will work closely with the project lead to:
- Optimize the design and delivery of the Synplastome.
- Characterize engineered algal strains.
- Collaborate with researchers from the University of Edinburgh and UCL, focusing on manipulating photosynthetic genes and enhancing gene editing technologies.
Regular project meetings will be conducted online and in person, with opportunities for exchange visits with partner institutions.
