Eligibility/Qualification
- PhD degree in Ecology, Geography, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Physics, or a related field.
- Strong interest in vegetation and ecosystems dynamics, biodiversity, climate change, and human-nature interactions.
- Excellent skills in data analysis and programming, preferably in C or C++.
- Documented ability to publish in high-quality scientific journals.
- Very good communication skills in English.
Job Description
The successful candidate will:
- Adapt the LPJ-GUESS Model to the study region, including testing and parameter adjustments.
- Combine model data with historical ecological dynamics, such as pollen and charcoal data.
- Derive indicators for Nature’s Contributions to People (NCPs) and biodiversity from model results.
- Collaborate closely with social scientists to simulate social-ecological systems and predict future scenarios.
- Publish research findings in reputable scientific journals.
- Contribute to outreach and science-policy interface activities.
