Research Area

  1. Nonequilibrium superfluids – Controlling superfluid transport through spatially engineered dissipation.
  2. Quantum thermodynamics – Addressing fundamental questions in quantum statistical mechanics and quantum many-body systems.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • Completion (or near completion for Level A) of a PhD in theoretical quantum physics, condensed matter physics, or a closely related discipline.
  • Proven ability to produce high-quality research outputs, evidenced by publications or equivalent contributions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills relevant to nonequilibrium quantum systems or quantum thermodynamics.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Job Description

Key responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to and expanding the established UQ research program.
  • Collaborating on research projects and managing research funding.
  • Publishing in reputable journals and utilizing best practice research methodologies.
  • Engaging in supervision and mentorship of students and junior researchers.
  • Developing partnerships and demonstrating leadership through mentoring.
  • Participating in internal service roles, performing administrative functions, and upholding university values.
