Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Applicants must have:
  • A PhD in a relevant discipline from any university, including the University of Melbourne.
  • Completion of PhD requirements no earlier than 1 April 2023.
  • Both Australian and non-Australian citizens can apply for the McKenzie and Mary Lugton Postdoctoral Fellowships.
  • Current academic staff at the University of Melbourne may apply if they meet the eligibility requirements.

Job Description:

The McKenzie Postdoctoral Fellowship offers a unique opportunity for researchers to:

  • Engage in focused research activities.
  • Develop new projects and collaborations.
  • Enhance research leadership capabilities.
  • Contribute to the broader research objectives of the University.

Fellows will receive funding at Academic Level A6 in the University Salary Band, along with project costs of up to $25,000 for research-related expenses.

  4. Prepare Required Documents: Ensure all necessary documentation is provided, including your Academic Contact form and any additional materials per your faculty.

  • Expression of Interest Deadline: 7 May 2026, by 3:00 PM
  • Full Application Deadline (for invited applicants): 19 August 2026, by 3:00 PM
  • Notification of outcomes: End of October 2026
