The Division of Clinical Geriatrics at Karolinska Institutet is seeking a motivated postdoctoral researcher to join Assistant Professor Anna Marseglia’s team. This role involves working within an interdisciplinary environment to identify molecular signatures of vulnerability and resilience to Vascular Cognitive Impairment and Dementia (VCID).

Eligibility & Qualifications

  • Degree: PhD in bioinformatics, biostatistics, computational biology, system biology, data science, neuroscience, psychology, or a related field with a focus on omics data analysis in aging.
  • Experience:
    • Hands-on experience with proteomics data (preprocessing, normalization, and downstream analyses).
    • Practical experience in supervised and unsupervised machine learning.
    • Experience with longitudinal data analysis.
    • Experience working with large-scale datasets and integrating heterogeneous data sources.
  • Skills: Strong programming skills in R or other relevant software; excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
  • Record: A solid publication record, including first-author research publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Job Description

As a postdoctoral scholar, you will lead independent studies focusing on identifying molecular fingerprints of VCID. Key duties include:

  • Developing and refining research questions and managing data, with a focus on proteomics.
  • Leading the analysis and integration of proteomic data and identifying molecular signatures.
  • Applying advanced analytical approaches (e.g., machine learning, longitudinal models) to link molecular profiles to clinical and cognitive outcomes.
  • Writing manuscripts for publication and presenting findings at professional forums.
  • Contributing to the development of new analytical pipelines for multi-omics integration.
  • Potentially supervising students and participating in grant writing.
