Job Description

As a Research Fellow, you will work within a team led by Professor David Bishop to undertake high-quality research on molecular pathways and skeletal muscle adaptations.

Key Duties:

  • Conduct academic research, collaborating with research staff and students.
  • Publish findings in high-impact academic journals.
  • Assist in the supervision of undergraduate, Honours, Masters, and PhD students.
  • Prepare and submit external grant applications and develop research partnerships.
  • Attend relevant conferences and professional development activities.

Eligibility & Qualifications

  • Essential: A PhD in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Exercise Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a closely related discipline.
  • Technical Skills: Demonstrated experience in cell culture techniques for mechanistic molecular biology studies.
  • Data Analysis: Experience in sample preparation, quality control, and data validation for Next-Generation Sequencing and proteomic analyses.
  • Bioinformatics: Proficiency in the analysis, interpretation, and integration of large-scale transcriptomic and proteomic datasets.
  • Requirement: Must hold or be willing to obtain a current Employee Working with Children Check (WWCC) and possess full/permanent working rights in Australia (visa sponsorship is not available).
