Eligibility and Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s degree (120 credits) or equivalent in Applied Mechanics, Structural Engineering, Computational Engineering, Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Physics, or a similar field. (A 4-year Bachelor’s degree is accepted for degrees earned outside of Sweden).
  • Technical Skills: Documented experience in continuum mechanics, the finite element method, and the mechanics of fibre-reinforced polymers. Strong skills in programming and numerical methods are required.
  • Language: Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Mobility Requirement: Applicants must not have resided, worked, or studied in Sweden for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to recruitment.
  • Academic Status: Must not already possess a doctoral degree.

Job Description

  • Develop and implement a computational framework linking small-scale material defects to large-scale structural performance.
  • Collaborate with an international team within the LEGEND project, including planned secondments (6 months total) at Airbus (Portugal), University of Kore (Italy), and Leonardo S.p.A. (Italy).
  • Communicate research findings through scientific publications and international conference presentations.
  • Participate in doctoral training events and General Assembly meetings across Europe.
  • Engage in advanced-level coursework at the Graduate school of Solid and Structural Mechanics.
  • Contribute to undergraduate teaching (up to 10% of total working hours).
