Eligibility / Qualification

  • A Master’s degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Photonics, Biophysics, or a closely related field.
  • A strong passion for nonlinear photonics, fiber optics, and biomedical applications.
  • High motivation to work in an innovative, interdisciplinary, and international team environment.

Job Description

As a PhD candidate on this project, you will:

  • Design & Fabricate: Develop original twisted microstructured optical fibers in a state-of-the-art clean-room facility.
  • Investigate Propagation: Explore nonlinear light propagation within twisted optical fibers to advance the understanding of light-matter interactions.
  • Biomedical Application: Demonstrate the fiber-based instrument’s application in measuring molecular orientation, such as 2-photon imaging of actin filaments and Second-Harmonic Generation (SHG) imaging of collagen in cells and tissues.
  • Network & Collaborate: Work alongside international academic and industrial partners (Institut Fresnel, University of Ottawa, Lightcore).
