Eligibility/Qualification
- Required Degree: PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, or Physics (must be awarded before the employment decision is finalized).
- Experience Preference: Highly meritorious if the PhD was obtained within the last 3 years prior to the application deadline.
- Language Proficiency: Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
- Core Competencies: Practical mastery in handling air- and moisture-sensitive chemistry (Schlenk lines, gloveboxes), crystal growth, and single-crystal/powder X-ray diffractometers. Ability to discuss electronic band structure and magnetic spin behavior with theoretical collaborators.
Job Description
- Crystal Growth & Synthesis: Synthesize inorganic/molecular solids under inert conditions (alkali metals, strong reductants, sealed ampoules) and grow single crystals to investigate itinerant vs. localized electron behavior in oxocarbon stacks.
- Advanced Materials Characterization: Lead variable-temperature single-crystal/powder diffraction, pair distribution function (PDF) analysis, total scattering, transport measurements, magnetometry, and spectroscopy (Raman, IR, EPR, solid-state NMR).
- Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Coordinate experimental findings with internal computational teams (Rahm group), device fabrication partners (Dash group), and external collaborators at Uppsala University and the Swedish NMR Centre.
- Dissemination: Present data at national and international conferences, publish peer-reviewed articles, and maintain rigorous traceability for all synthesis batches and samples.
