Eligibility / Qualification

  • Education: PhD in Material Science, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong foundation in material science and chemistry. Prior knowledge or experience with coatings, paints, or related polymeric materials is an advantage.
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Strong analytical, experimental, and problem-solving skills with a scientific mindset.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills (ability to engage cross-functional stakeholders).
    • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary environments.
    • Interest in or experience with coaching/mentoring laboratory technicians and junior chemists.
    • Proactive, curious, and dedicated to laboratory excellence and Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) standards.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in English (written and verbal). Dutch language proficiency or willingness to learn is a plus.

Job Description & Key Responsibilities

  • Experimental Design & Execution: Translate research objectives into experimental plans; perform chemical and physical laboratory experiments, including analytical testing and sample preparation.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze experimental results, extract meaningful scientific insights, and draft comprehensive technical reports and presentations.
  • Scientific Expertise: Act as a materials science subject matter expert supporting innovation projects across the R&D group.
  • Innovation & Scouting: Identify emerging research opportunities through scientific literature reviews, technological benchmarking, and collaboration.
  • Project & Lab Coordination: Coordinate laboratory workflows to ensure timely delivery of high-quality results while providing guidance to technicians and chemists.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Communicate research outcomes effectively with local and global R&D teams.
  • Safety & Compliance: Strictly adhere to laboratory safety protocols, procedures, and HSE standards at all times.
