Summary
The University of Parma announces a selection procedure for one fixed-term post-doctoral position, lasting 36 months. The research project, titled “Targeting the origin of chromosome fusion in childhood leukemia (TORCH),” focuses on understanding and targeting chromosomal fusion in pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL).
Post-Doc Position: Targeting the Origin of Chromosome Fusion in Childhood Leukemia (TORCH)
Designation
Post-doctoral Researcher
Research Area
GSD 06/MEDS-09: DISEASES OF THE BLOOD, ONCOLOGY AND RHEUMATOLOGY
SSD MEDS-09/B: DISEASES OF THE BLOOD
The specific research project is focused on pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), particularly targeting the origin of chromosome fusion.
Location
Dipartimento di Medicina e Chirurgia (Department of Medicine and Surgery), University of Parma, Italy.
Eligibility/Qualification
Candidates must meet the requirements for a post-doctoral appointment as per art. 22 bis of Law no. 240 of 30.12.2010 and related University Regulations.
Job Description
The selected candidate will be responsible for research activities related to the TORCH project, with the following objectives:
- Analysis of ALL cell lines with recurrent translocations to generate expression profiles comparing fusion-positive (fusionALL “On”) and fusion-negative (fusionALL “Off”) samples.
- Integration of data with essentiality scores from the Dependency Map (DepMap) to identify differentially expressed and essential genes in rearranged (ALL-R) versus non-rearranged ALL.
- Gene expression-based High Throughput Screening to identify a shared dependency signature across chromosome translocated ALL subtypes and to screen drug compounds that disrupt this signature.
- CRISPR-CAS9 KO screen for loss-of-function studies.
- In vivo studies with candidate hits to determine their efficacy on patient-derived leukemia xenografts (PDLX).
The Research Supervisor for this project is Prof. Giovanni ROTI.
