- Formulating power system analysis and optimization problems.
- Developing and implementing quantum solution methods (e.g., HHL, QAOA, or quantum annealing).
- Comparing performance against classical approaches via numerical studies and real-time simulations.
- Disseminating results through peer-reviewed publications and international conferences.
Eligibility and Qualifications
To be considered for this PhD position, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Education: A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
- Technical Skills: Strong foundation in mathematical modeling, numerical methods, and scientific programming (preferably Python).
- Specialized Knowledge: Familiarity with power system analysis (power flow/optimal power flow) and quantum computing algorithms.
- Language: Proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Preferred Experience: Experience with real-time simulation platforms (RTDS or OPAL-RT) and previous peer-reviewed publications in related fields.
Scholarship Description
The PhD student will be enrolled at the Doctoral School of Engineering and Science. The program includes:
- Completion of PhD courses corresponding to 30 ECTS.
- Gaining experience in teaching or knowledge dissemination.
- An external research stay (preferably 3-6 months) at a foreign research institution.
