Biotechnology Postdoctoral Research Fellow: We are seeking a dedicated Research Fellow for a Microbial Biotechnology position focused on the bioconversion of waste materials into value-added products, particularly biogas production.

Location: University of Fort Hare, S. Africa

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Doctoral degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, or related field obtained within the last 4 years.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in the research areas mentioned.
  • A track record of publications in DHET accredited journals.
  • Development of novel products and processes.
  • A minimum of 4 publications in DHET accredited journals.
  • Co-mentoring of postgraduate students.
  • Willingness to assist with teaching and learning in the primary department.

Job Description: The Research Fellow in Microbial Biotechnology will be responsible for conducting research related to the bioconversion of waste materials into value-added products, with a specific focus on biogas production. The key responsibilities include:

  • Investigating suitable waste-based feedstocks for biofuel production.
  • Identifying the microbes responsible for biofuel production.
  • Conducting bioprocess modeling and optimization studies.
