University Assistant (Postdoctoral Researcher): The University of Vienna is inviting applications for a University Assistant (Postdoctoral Researcher) position within the Moral Philosophy Group, Faculty of Philosophy and Education. This role involves active participation in research, teaching, and administration in the field of moral and political philosophy.

Eligibility/Qualification:

Required:

  • PhD in moral/political philosophy (PhD should have been submitted by the application deadline and must be completed by December 1, 2023).
  • MA-degree in Philosophy.
  • Track-record of publication in peer-reviewed journals (commensurate with career stage).
  • Teaching experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of English (C1).
  • Organizational skills and willingness to organize events, including reading groups, talks, workshops.
  • Ability to work in a team.

Desirable:

  • Willingness to contribute to the research and activities of the Cluster of Excellence “Knowledge in Crisis” is an advantage.
  • Note that many courses at the University of Vienna are taught in English, so knowledge of German is not required.

Job Description:

University Assistant (Postdoctoral Researcher) – Moral and Political Philosophy

  • Active participation in research, teaching, and administration.
  • Production of excellent research in moral/political philosophy.
  • Participation in and assistance with reading groups, workshops, and visiting talks in moral/political philosophy.
  • Publication in peer-reviewed journals and presentation of research findings.
  • Application for projects and raising third-party funds.
  • Preparation and completion of a publication-ready habilitation.
  • Independent teaching of courses within the scope of the collective bargaining agreement.
  • Supervision of students working in moral and political philosophy.
  • Participation in evaluation measures and quality assurance.
  • Assumption of administrative tasks related to research, teaching, and administration.
