About- The Charles Koch Foundation invites recent Ph.D.s and doctoral candidates to apply for academic fellowships. Through these pre-doctoral and post-doctoral fellowships, we seek to support individuals dedicated to pursuing a career in academia. Academic Fellowships
Funding will vary depending on the location and demands of the fellowship.

Eligibility/Qualification–
- Superior academic record, including a strong publication record and research agenda.
- Commitment to a career in academia.
Fellowships are awarded in the fields of history, political science, international relations, entrepreneurship, and economics. Exceptional applications in law, psychology, and education reform may be considered.
- For those who are interested in conducting research in a traditional university setting.
- In advance of a fellowship, candidates must make a tentative arrangement to be hosted at a university department with access to a faculty mentor.
- Post-doctoral fellowship grants are awarded for one-year or two-year terms.
- Pre-doctoral fellowship grants are awarded for one-year terms at institutions other than your home institution.
Job/Position Description-
- Competitive one-year or two-year stipend awarded to the host institution.
- Possible enrollment in the host institution’s health insurance (at the host institution’s discretion).
- Additional funds may be awarded to host institutions for fellows to attend academic conferences.
How to Apply- Candidates must complete an online application and provide the following documents:

- An academic writing sample (up to 25 pages).*
- A description of your research and its relationship to the academic conversation.*
- A one-page outline of year-long goals for publications, conferences, and academic activities. A sample outline can be found here.*
- A description of your tentative hosting arrangement, including information about your proposed faculty mentor.*
- A brief statement of your short- and long-term career goals.*
- Unofficial graduate school transcripts.
- A letter of recommendation.
