Eligibility/Qualification–

• Target Group: Distinguished experts from industry or R&D organizations with remarkable contributions in engineering, science, technology, architecture, planning, entrepreneurship, or social sciences.
• Exclusion: These positions are not open to those currently in or retired from the teaching profession.
• Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Design, or related fields.
  • Postgraduate (P.G.) degree is mandatory for Sciences, Humanities, Management, or related fields.
  • Ph.D. is desirable but not essential; extensive experience may be considered in lieu of a doctorate.
• Experience:
  • Professor of Practice: 10–15 years of experience at a senior management level (e.g., CEO, CTO, VP, Director).
  • Associate Professor of Practice: 5–10 years of experience.

Job/Position Description- 

National Institute of Technology Patna is inviting applications and nominations from Indian Nationals for the positions of Professor of Practice and Associate Professor of Practice. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between industry and academia by bringing in distinguished experts from reputed industries and R&D institutions to promote excellence in teaching, research, and industry-institute networks.

Designation

• Professor of Practice (PoP)
• Associate Professor of Practice (APoP)

Appointees are expected to engage in a variety of activities, including:

• Delivering lectures and designing new practice-oriented courses.
• Mentoring students on projects and linking them with external industry stakeholders.
• Developing Continuing Education Programs and conducting outreach/extension activities.
• Encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship among students.
• Enhancing industry-academia collaborations and carrying out joint research or consultancy with regular faculty.

Remuneration

• Professor: 1.2 Lakhs units of currency per month plus monthly allowances up to 20,000 units on a reimbursable basis.
• Associate Professor: 1 Lakh units of currency per month plus monthly allowances up to 20,000 units on a reimbursable basis.
• Accommodation: Provided as per institute norms, subject to availability.

Duration This is a contractual appointment initially for 1 year, extendable up to 3 years or until the age of 70, whichever is earlier, based on performance reviews.
