Eligibility/Qualification

To qualify for the doctoral studies, applicants must:

  • Hold a Master’s degree in Evolutionary Biology, Ecology, Bioinformatics, or related fields.
  • Have completed at least 240 credits in higher education, including 60 credits at Master’s level and an independent project worth at least 15 credits.
  • Possess equivalent knowledge gained through research experience.

Desirable Skills:

  • Understanding of ecology, evolutionary biology, or genetics.
  • Experience in programming and scripting.
  • Familiarity with statistical analyses, bioinformatic pipelines, and molecular lab work.

Job Description

The PhD project involves:

  • Investigating the repeatability of evolution and genetic adaptations in the seed beetle Callosobruchus maculatus under varying temperature regimes.
  • Collaboration with the supervisory team and other research groups.
  • Engaging in experimental and molecular laboratory work, along with bioinformatic analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in daily research group activities.
  • Engage in teaching opportunities (up to 20% of full-time).
  • Contribute to seminars, journal clubs, and collaborative projects.
