Position Summary
This is a full-time, onsite position ideal for a recent college graduate aiming to build a strong foundation in laboratory research before pursuing further studies, such as PhD or MD programs. As one of the lab’s founding members, you will have the unique opportunity to help shape the lab’s operations, contribute to independent research projects, and work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI).

Research Area
The Mattioli Lab investigates how the genome becomes misregulated in cancer. Their research focuses on breast cancer, specifically exploring how alternative RNA splicing produces distinct gene isoforms that drive oncogenic cell states. The lab utilizes a combination of molecular biology, cancer biology, and genomics, including long-read RNA sequencing, RNA-targeting CRISPR, and computational analysis.
Eligibility & Qualifications
- Education: A bachelor’s degree in biology, molecular biology, genetics, or a closely related field.
- Experience: Foundational laboratory or research training. Relevant lab coursework will be considered.
- Preferred Skills: Prior experience with molecular cloning, mammalian cell culture, DNA/RNA extraction, PCR/RT-qPCR, next-generation sequencing, CRISPR-based methods, or single-cell sequencing is a plus.
- Core Competencies: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, excellent communication, and a drive to contribute meaningfully to research.
- Note: This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
Key Responsibilities
- Experimental Work (55%): Conduct molecular biology, biochemistry, and genomics experiments (cloning, cell culture, library preparation, etc.).
- Data Management (20%): Collect, record, and analyze experimental data; maintain accurate lab records.
- Lab Operations (15%): Manage reagents and supplies, maintain equipment, and ensure lab safety compliance.
- Collaboration (10%): Participate in lab meetings/journal clubs and assist with manuscript and grant preparation.
