Eligibility/Qualification–

PhD in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mechanics, Physics, Polymer Engineering, or related fields.
Candidates who have submitted their thesis and are awaiting defense are also eligible.
Relevant expertise as per the specific research positions (detailed below).

Job/Position Description-

Four specific research openings under this project:

Postdoc Positions – 1 & 2: Conduct Melt-Spinning Experiments with In-Situ Visualization and Rheological Characterization
- Develop a melt-spinning setup and perform experiments.
- Conduct rheological measurements to generate data for model validation.
- Expected Expertise: Experimental setup design, flow visualization (back-lit imaging, shadowgraphy), polymer rheology, polymer characterization (DSC, TGA, etc.).
- Desirable: Experience with fabrication, image processing, fiber spinning technologies, and CAD.
Postdoc Position – 3: Develop Molecular Constitutive Relations for Polymer Melt Rheology
- Develop molecular constitutive models and conduct simulations of curing/pyrolysis.
- Work closely with the rheology and melt-spinning teams for theoretical support.
- Expected Expertise: Multiscale and multiphysics simulation, parallelized C and Python coding.
- Desirable: Experience in developing C/Python codes, rheology, DSC, and GPC.
Postdoc Position – 4: Conduct CFD Simulations and Develop 1D Theoretical Models
- Develop CFD and 1D models for fiber spinning (single and multi-nozzle).
- Collaborate with the rheology and melt-spinning teams for model validation.
- Expected Expertise: CFD code development, multiphase flow simulations, experience with OpenFOAM or Basilisk.
- Desirable: Strong foundation in fluid mechanics, two-phase flow simulations, Matlab/Python.
