Post-doctoral Researcher – Institute: Join the ERC-COG research program at the Center for Infection and Immunity of Lille (CIIL), France, and contribute to groundbreaking research in the field of antibiotic innovation. We are seeking a dedicated Post-doctoral Researcher to investigate bioinspired siderophore-antibiotic conjugates with a focus on understanding their mechanisms of uptake, intracellular decoupling, and antibiotic target engagement. This project addresses the urgent need for novel strategies against antibiotic-resistant bacteria prioritized by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Designation: Post-doctoral Researcher

Research Area: Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Chemical Biology, or related disciplines

Location: Center for Infection and Immunity of Lille (CIIL), Institute Pasteur of Lille, France

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Hold a Ph.D. in a relevant biology field (e.g., chemical biology, pharmacology, pharmacy, bacteriology, molecular biology, microbiology, etc.)
  • Passion for antibiotic research and a strong understanding of the characteristics required for antibiotic efficacy
  • Previous research experience with Acinetobacter baumannii or Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a bonus
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team of biologists and chemists
  • Proficiency in English or French, with excellent written English for manuscript preparation

Job Description:

Post-doctoral Researcher – Investigation of Bioinspired Siderophore-Antibiotic Conjugates

  • Conduct research on bioinspired siderophore-antibiotic conjugates with a focus on mechanisms of uptake, intracellular decoupling, and antibiotic target engagement.
  • Evaluate the potential of these conjugates against WHO-prioritized bacteria, including A. baumannii, P. aeruginosa, and K. pneumoniae.
  • Collaborate closely with a cross-disciplinary team driven by compound-based antibiotic innovation.
  • Contribute to the development of potential drug candidates to combat antibiotic-resistant pathogens.

How to Apply: Interested applicants should submit the following documents to Dr. Ruben C. Hartkoorn (ruben.hartkoorn@inserm.fr):
