Eligibility/Qualification: Candidates should have a PhD degree in Marine Biology/Ecology, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Marine or Environmental Science, Oceanography, or a related field. Essential experience includes fieldwork in regions like Biscayne Bay, ocean chemistry laboratory work, collaboration on research vessel surveys and fieldwork trips, and strong problem-solving, organizational, and laboratory skills. The candidate must be able to lift and move items up to 50 lbs.
Job Description:
- Lead nutrient lab analysis and statistical analyses of field samples from OCED surveys and lab experiments.
- Coordinate all laboratory logistics, including mixing reagents, creating standards, maintaining laboratory chemicals, records, and equipment, and ordering needed materials.
- Analyze Dissolved Inorganic Nutrient samples using a gas segmented flow autoanalyzer.
- Develop a comprehensive nutrient research program at AOML, including statistical analyses of samples.
- Manage laboratory operations and ensure safety.
- Process and manage nutrient analyses data, coordinating with water quality observations.
- Collaborate on ecological studies related to water quality, benthic habitat monitoring, and juvenile fish community assessments.
- Conduct work in varied environmental conditions, including at sea on small and large vessels.
- Assist with other laboratory sample analyses, data entry, QA/QC, and database management.
- Prepare manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications.
- Seek research funding.
