About- Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology (IASST) is a premier scientific research organization in the north-east region, conceived and nurtured by the Assam Science Society in its initial years and was inaugurated by Nobel Laureate Dorothy C. Hodgkin on 3rd November 1979. Subsequently, it was supported by the state govt. as its only autonomous R&D institute till March 2009. The institute was taken over in March, 2009 by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt of India as one of its autonomous R&D institute.

Eligibility/Qualification–
Post- 01
Essential:
M.Sc. in Physics
Ph.D in Physics/Materials Science/ Nanoscience from a recognized University/ Institute with expertise in synthesis and characterization of magnetic nanomaterials /advanced functional nanomaterials.
Desirable: Expertise in synthesis and characterization of magnetic nanomaterials. Experience of analyzing SQUIDVSM data, M-H, determination of crystal structure of magnetic nanomaterials etc. The candidate’s thesis work should be aligned with the aforementioned areas of expertise. Candidates who have submitted their Ph.D. thesis may also apply.
Upper age limit is 35 years at the time of the application. Relaxation as per GoI rules.

Post- 02
Essential: Ph.D degree in Biotechnology/ Microbiology/Life Sciences(Botany)/ Molecular Biology /Plant Pathology/ Agricultural Biotechnology from a recognized University/ Institute with research experience in plant-microbe interactions/microbial biocontrol of diseases and pests or bioactive metabolites against multi-drug resistant pathogens.
Desirable: Research experience in microbial consortia/ bio formulation development, plant disease management, metagenomics, secondary metabolites. Hands-on experience in molecular and microbiological techniques, including microbial culture handling, DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, qPCR, sequencing analysis, bioinformatics tools. Experience in greenhouse/ field experiments, translational research, technology commercialization, or industry-linked research activities. Knowledge of advanced analytical and omics-based techniques and experience in patent drafting, and technology development. Candidates who have submitted their Ph.D. thesis may also apply

Subject area– Life Sciences: Tea-Microbe interactions and microbial Bioactive metabolites against plant and human pathogens
Essential Criteria- At least 2 first author publications (in the relevant subject area) in peer-reviewed national and/or international journals each having more than 2 impact factor.
Duration: Appointment will be for a period of 12 (twelve) months which may be extended maximum for a period of one year (6 months at a stretch) depending on the satisfactory performance of the candidate
