Eligibility/Qualification:
Essential Qualifications
Applicants must possess either:
- PhD in:
- Metallurgical Engineering

OR
- ME/M.Tech in the above disciplines with minimum 3 years of research, design, and development experience after completion of ME/M.Tech.

Job Description:
The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT Hyderabad) invites applications for the position of Research Associate (RA) under a Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Government of India sponsored project through DIA-COE IIT (BHU), Varanasi. The project is titled “Indigenous Development of Large Scale (100 kg) Inert Gas Atomiser” and is sanctioned for a duration of three years.
The appointment is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project. Candidates with a strong background in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering are encouraged to apply.

The Research Associate will contribute to the development of an indigenous large-scale inert gas atomization system and associated advanced material processing technologies. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting research and development activities related to gas atomization and powder production.
- Designing and executing experiments.
- Characterizing materials and microstructures.
- Supporting modelling and simulation studies.
- Preparing technical reports, project documentation, and research publications.
- Coordinating project-related activities under the guidance of the Principal Investigator.
- Assisting in achieving project milestones within the stipulated timeline.
Salary & Benefits
Research Associate-I (RA-I)
- ₹58,000 per month during the first and second year.
Research Associate-II (RA-II)
- ₹61,000 per month during the third year (subject to performance-based conversion).
Additional Benefits
- House Rent Allowance (HRA) as per Government of India norms.
