Designation/Position-
Postdoctoral position 2019
Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT), Italy invites application for
Postdoctoral position 2019 from eligible and interested candidates
About- Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia, with its headquarters in Genova, Italy, is a non-profit institution with the primary goal of creating and disseminating scientific knowledge and strengthening Italy’s technological competitiveness. The institute offers state-of-the-art equipment and a top-level interdisciplinary research environment focused on robotics and computer vision, neuroscience, drug discovery, nanoscience and technology.
A postdoctoral position for a molecular biologist is available in the Epigenomics and Transcriptional Regulation group within the Genomic Science Research Line at the Center for Genomic Science of Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) in Milan, Italy lead by Dr. Francesco Nicassio. The Center for Genomic Science is located in the internationally renowned IFOM-IEO cancer research campus, where the candidate will have full access to state of the art facilities for sequencing, proteomics, and computation.
Research/Job Area- Molecular biology
Location- Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT), Italy
Eligibility/Qualification–
A PhD in molecular biology, experience with cell cultures, RNA/chromatin biology and high-throughput sequencing based approaches are requested. Interest and skills in bioinformatics are a plus
Job/Position Description- Research group adopts an interdisciplinary approach based on cutting edge experimental and computational methods to investigate fundamental mechanisms in the epigenetic control of transcriptional regulation. In particular, we study the functional role of the rates of RNA synthesis, processing and degradation (RNA dynamics), and their epigenomic and epitranscriptional determinants, in physiological and disease conditions.
Starting from robust preliminary data, the selected candidate will lead a project to:
(i) develop a method to deconvolute the RNA Polymerase II (RNAPII) dynamics, by quantifying the rates of recruitment, pause-release, elongation and detachment of the RNAPII complex (de Pretis et al., Genome Research 2017)
(ii) decipher how RNAPII dynamics impact and are affected by RNA modifications (m6A epitranscriptome).
She/he will interact extensively with experimental and computational scientists within the group, and will take advantage of a broad network of collaborators (European Epitranscriptomic Network EPITRAN).
The successful candidate for Postdoctoral position 2019 will be offered a competitive salary commensurate to qualifications and experience and in line with international standards.
