Eligibility/Qualification–

  • The research group is looking for an outstanding candidate with a strong background in soft matter physics or a related field.
  • Thus, the candidate should hold a Ph.D. degree in physics, chemistry, materials science, or related field.
  • Experience in cleanroom microfabrication and theoretical/modeling work in support of the experiments are considered as assets.
  • The ability to collaborate and interact with other researchers and research communities is important.
  • You should have good communication skills, good analytical and experimental skills, and a good ability to work independently toward the goals of the project.

Job/Position Description- 

The successful candidate is expected to:

  • conduct research on superhydrophobic surfaces, their in-depth advanced characterization, and their application in technologies
  • publish research outcomes in high-impact peer-reviewed journals
  • work in a collaborative interdisciplinary environment

The position is immediately available.

The research group is looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher in experimental physics. Your research will focus on dynamic events at solid-liquid interfaces, in particular using liquid-repellent surfaces. The position is based in the Soft Matter and Wetting group at the Department of Applied Physics, Aalto University (Prof. Robin Ras, http://physics.aalto.fi/smw ).

Your main task is to perform experiments using novel superhydrophobic coatings, develop new coatings, develop new applications. The project aims to improve understanding on the fundamentals of surface wetting with potential for publications in high-impact journals (recently we published in Nature, Science and related journals). The project also has an applied edge with potential to secure IPR.
