About- Research group is soliciting applications for the position of Postdoctoral Researcher focusing on “Development of feed for eel larvae based on natural diet information (FY2016–2020, Principal Investigator: Shigeru Deguchi)” within already-funded research “Establishment of core technology to conserve marine biodiversity and ecosystems”. This is part of a larger project, “Development of innovative technologies for the next generation/Rapid deployment business” supported by Bio-oriented Technology Research Advancement Institution (BRAIN), The National Agriculture and Food Research Organization (NARO). Eligibility/Qualification–
Applicants are required to have been awarded or expect to have obtained a Ph.D. in a related field by the date of employment.
In addition, no more than 5 years can have passed between the last day of the fiscal year in which the applicants obtained a Ph.D. and the date of employment.

Job/Position Description- The team at JAMSTEC will conduct basic materials research into the optimization of feed formulations for eel larvae, including the development of gel microparticles.
To contribute to the project, a Postdoctoral Researcher should be able to independently conduct the research subject which is authorized by the Project under direction of a leader, and to be appointed intend to improve his/her research qualities.
Annual salary (paid in 1/12 equal monthly payments) – JPY 5,250,000
*There are no raise, bonus and retirement allowance.
Contract Period – June 1, 2019 to March 31, 2020.
*The contract period can be renewed but the total contract period is a maximum of 2 fiscal years (until March 31,2021) depending on the progress of the research.
*Appointment date is negotiable.
*One contract period is a maximum of 1 fiscal year.
*The contract period mentioned above will change according to budget of this project.
*In accordance with JAMSTEC’s bylaws, on reaching the age of 65 during an employed fiscal year, the contract period will expire at the end of the same fiscal year. This bylaw may change.
*This position is a non-tenure-track, fixed-term employee position.

e) A list of competitive research funds awarded to the applicant (1 copy).
*If you have not been awarded any, include “none” in the list.
f) 2 (or fewer) representative publications (1 copy).
