Eligibility/Qualification–
Essential Qualification:
- Ph.D. in Marine Biology, Taxonomy or related field
Skills Desirable:
- Extensive knowledge of marine species and ecosystems
- Experience in biological image data analysis
- Familiarity with AI applications for imaging in biology is a plus – Strong analytical and communication skills – Programming skills in Python or C, etc.
Ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
Job/Position Description-
| Applications are invited for the position of Research Associate (RA-II) under the Project titled “Marine Species Identification and Recognition Using AI” in the School of Mathematics and Computer Science, IIT Goa. The Ministry of Earth Science sponsors the project. The research fellow will travel to CMLRE, Kochi and also NIOT Chennai and will participate in a scientific cruise expedition if required. | |
| Nature of work | Provide domain-specific expertise, contribute to the development of species identification models, ensure the accuracy of biological data, and collaborate with AI researchers. Provide domain expertise in marine biology Validate and ensure the accuracy of biological data Collaborate with AI researchers to integrate domain knowledge into models Contribute to the development of species identification algorithms Document and present findings Assist in mentoring team members |
