About- Defence Research Laboratory (DRL), Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Tezpur, Assam, has invited applications from young and motivated candidates for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Research Associate (RA) positions to work on ongoing and future research projects.
A total of 6 fellowship positions are advertised across Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Zoology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Biochemistry and Microbiology. Selection will be through a walk-in interview on 11 September 2026 at DRL, DRDO, Solmara Military Station, Dekargaon, Tezpur, Assam.

Eligibility/Qualification–
1. JRF – 03 Posts
Candidates should possess any of the following qualifications:
- M.Pharm
- M.S. (Pharm)
- M.Tech (Pharm)
- M.Tech in Pharmaceutics
- M.Tech in Pharmacology & Toxicology
- M.Tech in Pharmacology
- M.Tech in Pharmaceutical Chemistry
- M.Sc. in Chemistry with NET
Age Limit: Not more than 28 years as on the interview date.
2. JRF – 01 Post
Qualification:
M.Sc. in any of the following disciplines with NET:
- Zoology
- Microbiology
- Biotechnology
- Life Sciences
- Environmental Sciences
Age Limit: Not more than 28 years as on the interview date.
3. JRF – 01 Post
Qualification:
M.Sc. in Biochemistry with NET.
Age Limit: Not more than 28 years as on the interview date.
4. Research Associate – 01 Post
Qualification:
Ph.D. in Microbiology.
Desirable: Specialization in:
- Agricultural Microbiology
- Soil Microbiology
Age Limit: Not more than 35 years as on the interview date.

Stipend and Tenure
Junior Research Fellow (JRF)
- Stipend: ₹37,000 per month + HRA
- Initial Tenure: 2 years
- Based on performance, the fellowship may be upgraded to Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) and extended to the third and fourth years, if required.
Research Associate (RA)
- Stipend: ₹67,000 per month + HRA
- Tenure: 2 years
Selected JRFs and Research Associates will work on ongoing and future research projects at Defence Research Laboratory (DRL), DRDO, Tezpur.
The selected researchers will contribute to research activities relevant to their respective academic and scientific specializations and laboratory requirements.
The number of fellowships may vary depending on the requirements of the laboratory.
Selection Process
Selection will be conducted through a Walk-in Interview.

Candidates must then attend the walk-in interview at DRL, DRDO, Tezpur, on 11 September 2026.
Candidates should carry the following documents to the interview:

- Degree or provisional degree certificate
- Aadhaar Card
- Copies of published research papers
- Copy of thesis
- One photocopy set of all documents submitted with the application
- NOC from the employer, where applicable
Candidates currently employed in a Government Department, PSU or Autonomous Body must apply through the proper channel and produce an NOC from their employer at the time of interview.
