Scientist – Betthauser Lab: The Betthauser Neuroimaging Lab in Madison, Wisconsin, is seeking a highly motivated Scientist to join their team and contribute to Alzheimer’s disease research and training activities. The lab focuses on developing and applying novel modeling methods to neuroimaging and fluid biomarkers of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease, to understand disease processes, factors influencing disease onset, and the relationship between timing and clinical symptoms. Eligibility/Qualification:
- Required: PhD in psychology, neuroscience, public health, social work, biomedical engineering, computer sciences, life sciences, or related fields (preferred)
- Required: Experience in scientific writing, data analysis, dataset preparation, and quality control
- Required: Knowledge of programming languages (such as R, SQL, Python, SPSS, AFNI, SPM, and FSL) for efficient data interaction
- Preferred: Experience in mentoring trainees, neuroimaging data analysis, and working in a team or academic research environment
Job Description:
- Work closely with Dr. Betthauser, staff, and students to lead, perform, and present scientific research in collaborative projects
- Develop statistical analysis plans in consultation with biostatisticians
- Conduct data curation, summary, processing, and analysis
- Engage in scientific writing, including drafting, submitting, and publishing peer-reviewed manuscripts
- Contribute to grant writing and revise conference abstracts
- Present research findings at local, national, and international events and conferences
- Provide scientific support to lab staff and students, including mentorship
- Collaborate with colleagues from the School of Medicine and Public Health, other UW schools, and external institutions/organizations/corporations
