About- Applications are invited for the following posts in the Centre of Excellence of Machine Tools Design at IIT(BHU) Varanasi for developing the project Ram Type Design for Heavy Duty CNC Horizontal Boring & Milling Machine (Floor Type) under MHI scheme for Enhancement of Competitiveness in Indian Capital Goods Sector Phase II with HMT Machine Tools Limited as an industrial partner.

Research Area: Metallurgical Engineering/ Materials Science and Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering
Eligibility/Qualification:
Age limit: The upper age limit is 35 Years. Age relaxation for reserved category candidates as per GOI rules is applicable. Also, in the case of exceptional candidates with research experience found suitable for the project requirements, the age criterion may be relaxed.
Essential qualifications:
M. Tech/M.E. in Metallurgical Engineering/ Materials Science and Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering with Gate qualification and two years of research experience,
(Or)
Ph.D. in Metallurgical Engineering /Materials Science and Engineering.
Desirable qualifications: Candidates having research experience with electron microscopy and mechanical properties will be preferred.
Job Description:
SRF position in SERB-CRG sponsored project.
Applications are invited for the post of Senior Research Fellow at a fixed consolidated amount of Rs. 35,000 p.m. in a SERB-CRG sponsored project entitled “Design, development, and microstructural engineering of ultra-strong maraging medium entropy alloys” sanctioned up to February 2026 (three years). The post is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project.
Duration: Initial appointment will be for one year, which will be extended up to the duration of the project based on the performance.
