Postdoc in Ireland

Postdoc Position in Computational Electrocatalysis: Trinity College Dublin School of Chemistry is offering a postdoctoral researcher position in Computational Electrocatalysis within the Computational Catalysis and Energy Materials (CCEM) group, led by Prof. Max García-Melchor. The position is available from January 2024 for a duration of 1-2 years, funded by Science Foundation Ireland. The research involves using advanced computational methods and machine learning algorithms to expedite the design of cost-effective water oxidation electrocatalysts for green hydrogen production.

Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher (R2, R3)

Research Area:

  • Computational Chemistry
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Heterogeneous Catalysis
  • Homogeneous Catalysis

Location: Dublin, Ireland

Eligibility/Qualification: The ideal candidate should hold a PhD or equivalent in Chemistry, Physics, Computational Chemistry, Nanoscience, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline. A demonstrated background in modeling (electro)catalytic processes with periodic DFT is required. Good programming skills and excellent oral and written communication skills in English are essential. The successful applicant is also expected to contribute to the training and supervision of undergraduate/postgraduate students and present research at regular group meetings and scientific conferences.

Job Description: The postdoctoral researcher will collaborate with the CCEM group on a Science Foundation Ireland-funded project, focusing on designing water oxidation electrocatalysts for green hydrogen production. The work involves applying state-of-the-art computational methods and machine learning algorithms. The role includes contributing to the training and supervision of students, as well as presenting research findings at group meetings and scientific conferences.

How to Apply: Interested applicants should email a cover letter, CV (including publications list), and 2 referee contacts to Prof. García-Melchor at garciamm@tcd.ie before 29th February 2024 at 17:00 Dublin local time.
