Research Associate in Reproductive Immunology: The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences at Yale School of Medicine is seeking a motivated Postdoctoral scientist to join the laboratory of Dr. Vikki Abrahams. The Abrahams Lab focuses on understanding the role of innate immune receptors in placental, fetal membrane, and maternal-fetal immune responses to infectious and non-infectious stimuli, with a particular focus on pregnancy outcomes. The position involves studying the impact of non-infectious antiphospholipid antibodies associated with lupus on placental trophoblast inflammation and maternal-fetal vascular communication. This is a 2-year position with the possibility of extension, expected to start in fall 2024.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD in microbiology, cellular biology, cellular microbiology, or immunology
- Expertise with microscopy and live imaging
- Experience with tissue culture and biochemistry
- Proficiency in molecular biology techniques (DNA/RNA extraction and manipulation)
- Strong academic integrity and rigor
- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
- Excellent communication and note-keeping skills
- Experience supervising students is desirable
Job Description:
- Develop a cutting-edge research project to elucidate the functions of interferons (IFNs) and their interferon-stimulated genes (ISGs) in Salmonella infection
- Conduct experiments using live cell imaging to visualize the stability of Salmonella-containing vacuoles
- Analyze the transcriptome of cytosolic and vacuolar bacteria in the presence or absence of IFN via RNA sequencing
- Maintain accurate records of experiments, analyze data, and prepare manuscripts for publication
- Communicate research findings through presentations within the department and at conferences
- Contribute to the training and supervision of junior staff and graduate students
- Handle laboratory equipment safely and comply with health and safety regulations
- Initiate purchases of consumable items and minor equipment within budgetary limits
