Eligibility/Qualification:
- Required:
- Doctoral Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Chemistry or a closely related field in hand by January 31, 2025.
- Preferred:
- Experience in molecular inorganic/organometallic synthesis and catalysis.
- Proficiency in the synthesis of iron complexes and air-free synthetic techniques.
- Familiarity with NMR (1D and 2D), FTIR, NMR, SC-XRD, EPR, and Mossbauer Spectroscopy.
Job Description:
The Postdoctoral Associate will assist the Principal Investigator in conducting research that focuses on the synthesis, characterization, and reactivity of iron cyanide complexes. The role includes:
- Synthesis, purification, and characterization of organic and inorganic molecules.
- Mechanistic investigations of the formation of iron carbonyl/cyanide complexes and their reactivity and stability in prebiotic and astrochemical contexts.
- Preparing manuscripts for publication and presentations for scientific conferences.
- Lab maintenance, including equipment upkeep and ordering supplies.
- Mentoring junior researchers and contributing to a positive lab safety culture.
