Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD in organic chemistry or a closely related discipline (or near completion)
- Strong background in synthetic organic chemistry, including multi-step synthesis
- Expertise in analytical techniques, particularly NMR spectroscopy
- Experience in solution-phase and/or solid-phase peptide and nucleic acid synthesis, isolation, and characterization
- Demonstrated record of high-quality research with publications in peer-reviewed journals
- Excellent communication skills and aptitude for writing research publications
- Enthusiasm for understanding the chemical origins of life
Job Description:
The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Saidul Islam to design, plan, and execute the chemical synthesis of potentially prebiological molecules. Responsibilities include studying their (organo)catalytic functions in aqueous environments and investigating their contributions to early metabolic pathways. The role involves maintaining accurate records, preparing internal reports, and contributing to research publications. The position provides access to state-of-the-art instrumentation and fully equipped laboratories, all within a supportive research team.
