Educational BackgroundMSc or comparable degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Oceanography, or related field (required)
ExperienceExperience with laboratory analysis and field expeditions (desired)
KnowledgeBasic knowledge of marine carbonate system (TA, DIC, pH, pCO2 observations) (required)
Technical SkillsQuantitative skills in time-series analysis, biogeochemical data processing (R, Matlab, Python, or similar) (desired)
Communication SkillsExcellent English communication skills; ability to work in interdisciplinary international teams (required)

Description

The PhD student will:

  • Conduct sample collection during field campaigns and laboratory analysis.
  • Investigate carbon and GHG turnover in coastal systems impacted by mCDR.
  • Collaborate with project partners to develop innovative MRV approaches.
  • Engage with interdisciplinary teams and outreach to mCDR stakeholders.

Additionally, the role offers access to well-equipped lab environments and various research platforms such as profiling buoys, benthic landers, and autonomous sensors. Opportunities for collaboration with modelers and social scientists are also available.
