Eligibility/Qualification
- Master’s degree in Condensed Matter Physics or a closely related field
- Exceptional academic record at both undergraduate and graduate levels
- Strong skills in computational physics
- Experience with μSR, magnetic resonance, high pressure techniques, or magnetotransport is advantageous
- Strong motivation for interdisciplinary research
- Proficiency in written and spoken English; knowledge of German is an advantage
- Ability to work effectively within an international research team
Job Description
The PhD student will:
- Collaborate with experts to enhance high-pressure capabilities of μSR at PSI
- Develop new hydrostatic and uniaxial pressure cells and associated experimental methodologies
- Investigate pressure and strain effects on unconventional quantum phenomena like superconductivity, charge order, and magnetism
- Participate in a highly international and interdisciplinary research environment, receiving training in advanced experimental techniques and high-pressure instrumentation
