Eligibility/Qualification

To be eligible for the fellowship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Non-Japanese nationality
  • Full-time occupation in the home country with a commitment to return post-fellowship
  • Hold a Ph.D. by the application date
  • Aged 45 years or younger (born in 1981 or later)
  • No previous long-term stays in Japan (short-term visits for tourism or conferences are acceptable)
  • Acceptance from a host institution in Japan prior to application
  • Proficiency in English or Japanese

Job Description

Successful candidates will receive financial support for their stay in Japan, which includes:

  • A monthly allowance of JPY 220,000 for living expenses and research activities
  • An arrival fund of JPY 120,000
  • Round-trip economy class airfare
  • Overseas travel insurance covering medical treatment and death benefits
  • Participation in a study tour to Hiroshima for cultural education
