The Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research Dresden (IFW) is offering an exciting doctoral researcher position focused on engineering superconductivity in van der Waals quantum materials.


Summary

This experimental PhD project focuses on investigating twisted nodal superconductors to tune properties such as Josephson coupling, order-parameter hybridization, and topological phases. The position involves a collaboration between the Superpuddles Lab at IFW Dresden and the QTLab at the University of Naples Federico II.

Job Description

The successful candidate will conduct experimental research on ultraclean twisted superconducting interfaces, including cuprate and layered superconductors. Core responsibilities and skills to be developed include:

  • Nanofabrication and cryogenic stacking.
  • Inert-atmosphere and ultra-high-vacuum assembly.
  • Low-temperature transport and Josephson-junction measurements.
  • Advanced spectroscopy techniques.
