Eligibility / Qualification

Key Requirements:

  • Education: MSc degree (completed or expected soon) in Physics, Electrical/Optical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Academic Background: Strong knowledge base in condensed matter physics and optics, backed by an excellent academic record.
  • Technical Skills: Experience in data analysis and familiarity with software tools for automated measurement, data acquisition, or data processing.
  • Soft Skills: Ability to work effectively in a team, strong communication skills, high motivation, independence, creativity, and research commitment.
  • Language: Very good written and spoken English.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Track record of research papers or conference presentations.
  • Experience in scanning probe experiments (e.g., STM, NV magnetometry, SQUID-on-tip).
  • Hands-on experience in clean-room processing or working with van der Waals (vdW) materials.

Job Description

As a PhD candidate on this project, you will:

  • Develop a hybrid platform integrating optical spectroscopy with SQUID-on-tip (SOT) magnetometry to locally sense collective spin phases.
  • Engineer and fabricate electrically-tunable van der Waals heterostructure devices.
  • Design, build, and optimize specialized experimental setups.
  • Perform low-temperature magneto-optical measurements to explore and manipulate quantum spin states in moiré materials.
