Eligibility / Qualification
- Educational Background: Completed scientific university degree in Chemistry or Materials Science, alongside a PhD in Theoretical Chemistry, Quantum Chemistry, or Materials Modelling.
- Core Skills: Extensive knowledge in theoretical chemistry/quantum chemistry and materials modelling.
- Language & Communication: Very good written and spoken English skills with experience in presenting scientific content.
- Desirable Experience:
- Computational modelling of energy/battery materials.
- Application of machine learning methods.
- Experience with Linux operating systems and High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments.
- Background in conducting molecular dynamics (MD) simulations.
- Personal Attributes: High level of commitment, initiative, strong problem-solving skills, willingness to adapt to diverse areas of responsibility, and strong teamwork and communication skills within an international environment.
Job Description
- Material Screening & Design: Develop and implement screening procedures for battery materials and formulate structure-design concepts.
- Degradation Studies: Investigate potential degradation mechanisms in energy-related polymer systems.
- Computational Modelling: Calculate selected polymer structures by applying quantum chemical methods (particularly Density Functional Theory [DFT], semi-empirical, and wave function-based methods), molecular dynamics simulations, and machine learning tools.
- Scientific Collaboration & Mentorship: Collaborating closely with experimental research groups at HIPOLE Jena and co-supervising Bachelorโs, Masterโs, and PhD students.
- Publication & Reporting: Documenting, analyzing, summarizing, presenting, and publishing scientific results in English.
