Job Description & Responsibilities
The successful candidate will lead laboratory investigations and collaborative studies bridging academic rigor and industrial application. Key duties include:
- Characterising host–guest molecular interactions and quantifying their impact on antibiotic stability.
- Utilising advanced analytical instruments, primarily High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy.
- Working across university laboratories and industrial facilities alongside scientists from LJMU and Mast Group Ltd.
- Documenting, analysing, and presenting research findings for project milestones, peer-reviewed publications, and industrial reports.
- Engaging in continuous professional development under the Researcher Development Concordat (including allocated professional development days).
Eligibility & Qualifications
- A postgraduate degree (PhD or equivalent research experience) in Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated hands-on expertise with analytical methodologies such as HPLC and NMR spectroscopy.
- Knowledge of formulation science, stability studies, or host–guest chemical systems is highly desirable.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, high attention to detail, and proven track record of meeting project deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills suited for collaborative industry-academia partnerships.
