Designation/Position- Postdoctoral Research Assistant
Czech technical university, Czech Republic invites application for Postdoctoral Research Assistant from eligible and interested candidates
About- Czech Technical University (CTU) is one of the biggest and oldest technical universities in Europe. CTU currently has eight faculties (Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Science and Physical Engineering, Architecture, Transportation Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Information Technology) and approximately 20,000 students. CTU is 432nd globally in this year’s QS World University Rankings, and 9th in the Emerging Europe and Central Asia region.
Research/Job Area- Engineering, materials science, mathematics, physics or a related discipline
Location-Â Czech technical university, Czech Republic
Eligibility/Qualification–
- The candidate is expected to hold a doctorate (or be very near to its completion) in engineering, materials science, mathematics, physics or a related discipline; or, alternatively, have a good first degree and/or significant relevant industrial experience.
- Experience with SHPB (Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar) experimental technique for characterization of the behavior of materials at high strain rates and/or evaluation of measured data for constitutive modeling is advantageous.
- Aside the constitutive modeling and FE simulations you will be expected to analyze and interpret high strain rate and gas gun experiments.
- Knowledge in material modeling, data acquisition systems, development of novel diagnostics and apparatuses in experimental mechanics, temperature and environmental conditioning of materials is also beneficial.
Job/Position Description-
- The research group is seeking a highly talented and motivated researcher to work within our impact dynamics group-oriented at the experimental and numerical investigation of the mechanical response of 3D printed metamaterials (SLS printed stainless steel, aluminum alloys, titanium alloys) at high rates of strain. This post is based in Prague, Czech Republic, and is available for 2 years.
- You will be expected to work within a research group of Professor Ondrej Jirousek in a strong group of young and motivated researchers.
- The aim of the project is to develop a new constitutive model for Finite Element modeling of yielding and failure of 3D printed metamaterials which would allow for FE simulations of impact under moderate and high strain rates.
- The holder of the postdoc position will be a member of a strong research group of young and highly motivated scientists, mainly PhD students and young postdocs.
How to Apply-
You will be required to upload a cover letter/supporting statement, including a brief statement of research interests (describing how your past experience fits with the advertised position), CV, and the details of two referees as part of your online application. The applicants should send the following materials to knapova@fd.cvut.cz and place postdoc applicant k618 in the subject of the email with the following:
- Cover letter (summarizing professional background, achievements, and motivations)
- CV (including list related courses, publications, presentations, projects, language skills, and other relevant information)
- Transcripts
- At least one representative publication
