Eligibility/Qualification–
The general minimum qualification requires a Ph.D. with first class or equivalent in the preceding degree, in an appropriate branch, along with a very good academic record throughout. Specific departments also prescribe relevant Bachelor’s/Master’s degree requirements.
Additional requirements include:
- Degrees must be from a recognized University/Institute.
- Candidates should preferably be below 35 years as on the advertisement date.
- Age relaxation applies to eligible reserved/PwBD categories as per Government of India norms.
- Candidates working in Government, Semi-Government or educational institutions must provide an NOC while applying or at interview.

Designation
- Assistant Professor Grade II – 7th CPC Pay Level 10 & 11
- Assistant Professor Grade I – 7th CPC Pay Level 12
Candidates with less than three years of post-Ph.D. teaching/research/industrial experience may be considered for Grade II, while candidates with at least three years of post-Ph.D. experience may be considered for Grade I.
Selected faculty members will be expected to contribute to the academic and research activities of IIT Guwahati in their respective disciplines. The positions involve faculty-level responsibilities associated with teaching, research and institutional academic activities, with specialization aligned to the advertised areas.
Candidates will be shortlisted based on their qualifications, experience and the requirements of the concerned Department/School. Meeting the minimum eligibility criteria does not guarantee an interview.
