Eligibility/Qualification- Research group is looking for a highly motivated scientist with a PhD in Robotics, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or other related fields. Candidates are required to have outstanding technical and theoretical skills (C++ programming required). A strong and focused publication record in software development for robotics will be positively evaluated. Proficiency in English (written and spoken) is also required.
The successful candidate will be offered a contract with a highly competitive salary.
Job/Position Description- The iCub Project at Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) is seeking to appoint an international full-time post-doc on the topic of software development for robotics. Applicants are expected to have a track record (PhD research) in software development (e.g. ROS), software testing, robotics, repository management (e.g. Github), software integration, and related topics.
The successful applicant will join the iCub interdisciplinary team based in Genoa, Italy, and conduct research in the context of the European action ‘The European Robotics Research Infrastructure Network — TERRINet’ funded by the European Commission with Grant Agreement n. 730994, in partnership with other top-notch research institutions in Europe (https://cordis.europa.eu/project/rcn/212585_en.html).
The successful applicant will be involved in the development of a lightweight methodology to provide access to robotics platforms, build repeatable experiments on real robots and simulators, integrate a variety of middleware systems and in general investigate opportunities to capitalize on the vast European research network in robotics.
Research will happen in the iCub laboratories (home of the iCub humanoid), where researchers can count on state of the art mechanical and electronic design facility, software development skills and about 50 enthusiastic researchers with a variety of competences ranging from optimal control, computer vision, to machine learning and force control.
