The Islamic University of Science and Technology was promulgated by an act of the Jammu and Kashmir State Legislative Assembly in November 2005. Islamic University is located 28 km away from the summer capital of the state, Srinagar. The almond grove surrounding campus has the Himalayan mountain range to one side of it and the Jehlum River flowing to the other.

Eligibility/Qualification–
For the post of Assistant Professor Mechanical Engineering (Academic Level – 10 (57700-182400))
B. E. / B. Tech. / B. S. and M. E. / M. Tech. / M. S. or Integrated M. Tech. in relevant branch with first class or equivalent in any one of the degrees.
For the post of Assistant Professors Economics, International Relations, Chemistry, Kashmiri Language & Literature, Philosophical Studies (Academic Level – 10 (57700-182400)).
A Master‘s degree with 55% marks (50% in case of SC/ST/OBC (non creamy layer) or an equivalent grade in a point- scale wherever the grading system is followed in a concerned / relevant /allied subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
For the post of Assistant Professor Science & Society (Academic Level – 10 (57700-182400))
A Master‘s degree with 55% marks (50% in case of SC/ST/OBC (non creamy layer) or an equivalent grade in a point- scale wherever the grading system is followed in Social Work / Sociology / Science Communication or in a concerned / relevant /allied subjects.
Desirable areas of specialization: (a) Science Communication (b) Citizen Science (c) Social Entrepreneurship (d) Social Work.
The final Selection shall be made strictly in terms of the UGC Regulations 2018.
Job/Position Description-
- Screening / Shortlisting / Selection Procedure:
- The shortlisting of the candidates for interview for the post of Assistant Professor shall be made as per the criteria / parameters of UGC Regulations-2018 (Appendix II (Table 3A)) and the criteria for shortlisting of candidates for interview for the post of Assistant Professor shall be as follows:
“20 candidates shall be shortlisted for one post and 05 candidates for every additional post”.

Candidates are required to apply online through the University website www.iust.ac.in. No other means/ mode of application will be accepted. The non – refundable fee of Rs. 1000/- (Rupees One Thousand only) shall have to be deposited as an application fee through online mode by debit card/credit card/ net banking.
Hard copy of application form complete in all respects duly supported by self-attested copies of all relevant documents, certificates and testimonials is mandatory to be submitted in the office of Registrar by or before the last date of submission of hardcopies of the application forms, failing which the online application form submitted by the candidates shall not be considered.
